Join us for a full day of FREE activities led by our talented artist-educators. Explore a fascinating piece of Hamilton history at Dundurn National Historic Site on Family Day!
On a guided tour of over 40 rooms in Dundurn Castle, discover what it was like to live and play above stairs and work and live below stairs. Visitors will enjoy hands-on activities throughout their tour and sample a variety of historic goodies made in the kitchen. Visit the neighbouring Hamilton Military Museum for a self-guided experience with dress-up and engaging activities, while exploring the historical figures who lived in Hamilton during the War of 1812 and First World War.

Family Day Activities

Bronte Creek Provincial Park, 1219 Burloak Drive, Oakville
Tour the Nature Centre and visit the farm animals at the Children's Farm. Hopefully there will be snow -- so build a snow sculpture, Toboggan, ski or just do snow angels. There will be special activities and a craft too! Enjoy a round of Disc Golf, snow shoe or walk along some of our 13km of trails. Should also be a great day for outdoor photography.
Family Day Open House

Spend the afternoon at Ireland House Museum on Family Day! Participants can look forward to exploring the Ireland family home, lemon shortbread cookie demonstrations by the hearth (sampling too of course!) and creating a family keepsake craft. Admission is $15 per family at the door (includes 2 adults and up to 4 children).
Family Day Comedy Classics

Tour the McQuesten home as it was in 1939 and then head to the renovated Stable to enjoy short comedy classic films such as The Little Rascals, The Three Stooges, and Laurel and Hardy. Share the fun of classic family entertainment of the 1930s. Refreshments available for purchase.

What: Hamilton Kids-Fest -- Canada's largest indoor inflatable festival returns on Family Day Weekend! Blown up and ready for play will be some of North America's largest indoor inflatable rides. All this, in addition to shows, interactive activities, games, crafts, character meet-and-greets, full access to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum and more! The Rotary Club of Dundas Valley Sunrise and the Dundas Museum & Archives have come together once again for the Inside Outside Family Day Festival! Join the Rotary Club at the Driving Park for ice skating and carriage rides, then warm up with hot chocolate and indoor activities at the Museum. Visit both locations to win prizes the whole family will enjoy!
Hamilton Winterfest 2018
Family Day marks the last day of this celebration of Hamilton, community and the beauty of the season. Winter-inspired art exhibits, menus, heritage and recreation programming and so much more will bring Hamilton residents out of hibernation to connect with each other and explore the city from February 1st to the 18th.

Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum
Admission: Kids (age 2 to 17) unlimited all day ride wristband $25, Adults/Seniors (age 18+) $10, Family (2 Kids & 2 Adults/Seniors - only available online) $60. On Family Day weekend, children bounce, slide, ride, craft, learn and laugh at Hamilton Kids-Fest. Kids-Fest is Canada’s largest inflatable festival, bringing a variety of fun and educational activities for children 12 and under. The inflatables are blown-up and ready for action, so that children can slide, ride and bounce all day. They range from large slides to toddler appropriate rides. On top of the fabulous inflatables, Kids-Fest offers shows, interactive activities, games, crafts and more. Other activities, for an additional cost, at the 2019 Kids-Fest event include: Face painting, ceramic painting, sand art and more! Visitors to the Hamilton Kids-Fest can also check out the aircraft exhibits in the Museum at no additional cost. Parking is free.

Rainbow Mentors Family Art Day

Come out for a day of Family Fun at Dundas Valley School of Art. There will be painting/sketching, print making, and LEGO robotics. There is only room for 12 people with LEGO robotics so sign up before tickets are gone. For the LEGO robotics it is the whole three hours and just one ticket per child participating; it is assumed an adult will be helping them. This event is open to families with kidlettes ages 4-16. Come out and have some fun. This is a free event for families.
