Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology, 900 Woodward Avenue
The Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology is excited to present the “STEAM Saturdays” kids workshop series! Each month focuses on a different subject in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (S.T.E.A.M.). November's workshop theme is: CSE: Crime Scene Explorers!
Have you ever dreamed of being a detective? Solving mysteries? Do you love whodunnits? Here is your chance to learn some of the science behind Crime Scene Investigations and use your expertise to solve a crime in the museum! Forensic science applies different sciences to criminal investigations by collecting, preserving, and analysing evidence. Just like in a real lab we will gather clues and test samples. Together we will use forensic chemistry, podiatry, dactyloscopy, and chromatographics to find the suspect; in other words, you will try your hand at testing substances, comparing foot prints, dusting for fingerprints, examining inks, and writing secret messages to take home! Cross the caution tape and help us solve the mystery!
$25.00 per child. Recommended for ages 7 to 12. Pre-registration required. Call the museum at 905-546-4797 or email for more information.
